Dreidel - A top used for a game played during Hanukah. Gregor - A noisemaker that is used to drown out the name of the evil Haman during the reading of the story of Esther. Hamantaschen - A filled cookie in the shape of Haman's hat. Honey and Apples - It is a tradition to dip apples in honey at Rosh Hashanah for a sweet New Year.
Menorah - A candle holder used at Hanukah holding eight candles and a servant candle. One candle is lit each night of Hanukah. Mezuzah - This is hung in the doorways of some Jewish homes. Purim Mask - A custom at Purim is to dress up as the characters in the story of Esther. Seder Plate - A plate of special symbolic foods used during a Seder dinner at Passover. Shofar - A shofar is made from a ram's horn. It is blown on Rosh Hashanah and again on Yom Kippur.
Torah - The holy book of the Jewish faith. Sukkah- A wooden structure built during the harvest festival of Sukkot. The roof is covered with greenery and the inside is decorated with fruits and vegetables.
Star of David - A symbol of the Jewish faith. |
